P/T Fundraising, Marketing & Communications Coordinator

The Fundraising, Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a creative and varied role.  The post holder will assist the current Fundraising and Events coordinator with all aspects of marketing and promotion of the charity.   The role is an exciting opportunity to support unpaid family carers by marketing events, collaborating on strategy, and sharing our mission and working with potential and current supporters, along with raising much-needed funds for the charity. This role provides the opportunity to develop your creativity, imagination, and entrepreneurial skills towards marketing and community engagement.

Scope

The role will focus on 3 key areas from both an operational and a strategic perspective:

Fundraising

- To assist with fundraising projects and activities, as well as source new initiatives, including grant funds

- Assist with managing various income streams - individual giving, community fundraising, corporate partnerships, and legacy fundraising

Marketing

- Responsible for the design and production of a wide variety of Association of Carers publications and ensuring the brand is communicated to a diverse audience

Social Media

- Responsible for maintaining and updating all the various social media accounts and measuring success in this area, ensuring all external communications through digital channels are planned and implemented as part of the wider strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising

- Promote and assist with fundraising events (2 major and several small events each year)
- Engage and develop relationships with businesses and organisations throughout East Sussex
- Contribute to the development of partnerships
- Write small grants and funding applications
- Identify and evaluate funding opportunities, and notify appropriate Department Managers

Social Media

- Maintain and update all social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and any other accounts deemed necessary
- Create, maintain and/or update information on the website
- Regularly post and schedule content on Association of Carers social media feeds in line with charity ethos
- Work with others in the organisation to ensure that all content on our social media feeds aligns with organisational strategy
- Produce regular reports on social media performance
- Expand our reach and impact through social media channels
- Identify key social influencers who we can engage with
- Maintain a strong knowledge of developments, innovations, and new tech in social media and identify any that may be of benefit/interest to Association of Carers

Marketing

Raise the profile of the Charity through marketing and networking
- Maximise marketing opportunities, including upkeep of the charity website, full engagement with social media, and advertising online and in print
- Write press releases and produce creative blog posts for Charity website
- Communicating the brand successfully to both internal and external audiences - keeping it central to all marketing plans
- Responsible for traditional marketing publications alongside all digital channels
- Design and create promotional / publicity materials for services and ensure they remain up-to-date The post holder will be flexible to work outside of normal office hours when running fundraising events. Time off in lieu will be given for extra hours worked.

General Duties

- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the office systems and processes are maintained.
- Undertake all relevant training as required. 

Education   

- Good written and verbal communication or equivalent work experience (Essential)

Experience 

- A minimum of two years’ experience of working in marketing or arranging events, either in a paid or voluntary capacity (Desirable)
- Experience of promoting fundraising activities (Essential)
- Experience of updating a website (Essential)
- Experience of writing small bids and grants (Essential)
- Experience of using Outlook, Databases, Excel, Publisher, Word, Word press and social media platforms (Essential)

Knowledge

- Knowledge of the issues faced by unpaid carers (Desirable)
- Understanding of equal opportunities and diversity (Essential) 
- Knowledge of the voluntary sector (Desirable)
                                               

Skills and abilities

- A proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion
- Resilience, particularly when faced with setbacks
- The job holder must have full current driving licence (any convictions must be declared when applying) and access to a vehicle (Desirable)
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide-range of audiences (Essential)
- Strong written communication skills and creative flair (Essential)
- Good organisational skills (Essential)
- Positive attitude to work and the ability to manage workload, meet deadlines and financial targets (Essential)                                                                               
- Successful applicants are required to provide a Valid Disclosure and Barring Service check (this expense will be met by The Association of Carers).

£11,081.35 (NJC salary scale 14), 1 year fixed contract position.
