We are seeking new board members for a Local Action Group to help deliver the Hastings and Rother Community-led Local Development programme
Connecting Hastings and Rother Together (CHART) is a Community-led Local Development Programme, which means that it is led by a Local Action Group (LAG) ensuring a ‘bottom-up’ community based approach to investment within the area.
The Role of the Local Action Group (LAG)
The LAG is made up of 12-15 individuals from the local community (residents); the public sector; voluntary and community organisations and private sector businesses.
We are seeking to recruit individuals to sit on the LAG and oversee the programme. Your desire to improve lives in Hastings and Bexhill is the key quality we are seeking. This is an unpaid role and will involve a regular commitment of time to supporting the delivery of CHART. Training will be available to support you in this important role and eligible expenses may be covered.
This role is for the period of January 2020 – December 2020.
Local Action Group oversees the:
Delivery of strategy
Performance of projects
Allocation of funding to projects
Evaluation of programme

CHART Programme background
CHART has access to some £2.8m of European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) to support projects that bring a fresh approach to tackling deep-rooted problems in deprived communities within Hastings and Bexhill. It is particularly focused on:
• Helping disadvantaged people to find and keep work locally
• Helping disadvantaged people to start a business or set up as self-employed
• Stimulating the local economy to create jobs suitable for local people
CHART will support individuals through investment of European Social Funds (ESF) and enterprises through investment of the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF).
The programme has been recently approved and will run until March 2022 and will continue after the UK leaves the European Union.
