Bexleigh, Hythe and Abbey Residents Association

The BHARA was formed on 28th February 2013 for the purpose of giving a voice to our community and within that remit make changes to improve the area in which we live. Within this remit the Association (with the support of Laura Beerling, the Play Development Officer, and Mike Howard, our then Labour Councillor and Hastings Borough Council) the Association raised over £71,000 to provide play facilities within our area, which are sited in the corner of one of the Bulverhythe Recreation fields opposite Wyvale Garden Centre. The play space was opened in February 2017. This addition has proved extremely popular with local residents and their families and other visitors to the area. There are not many occasions when the play space is not in use. Glyne Gap Special School also bring children to use the facility. The play space provides free recreational facilities , improves the health and well being of the children who use it and provides a social aspect for the parents. The BHARA encourages community cohesion by holding events from time to time and it has also helped a family in need.
