Major Study Shines Light on Volunteering in Hastings

Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA) have been working with the Institute for Volunteering Research on the largest ever survey about volunteering in Hastings, and the team have now launched a report of the findings. The results of the study, which was funded by the Government’s Community Renewal Fund, will now be used to create a volunteering strategy for Hastings, and HVA want to involve as many local voices and ideas in the process as possible. HVA Director Steve Manwaring said:

“As we emerge from the shadow of Covid, the report shows us that in Hastings we have more wanting to volunteer than the national average and it’s clear that many organisations are going the extra mile for their volunteers. We have the have the potential and creativity to make Hastings one of the best places to volunteer in the country”

The report titled ‘Volunteering Voices: A future vision for Hastings’ is available to read and download below. Volunteer Development Worker Jane Caley added:

“The report gives invaluable insight into people’s motivations for volunteering, and what organisations in Hastings can do to make for a great volunteering experience. Volunteers have the power to bring about real change in our communities, and we want to use the results of the report to help us harness that power, and further elevate their voices.”
